Student Placement Programme – Communications

Are you passionate about environmental issues and eager to make a difference? IEEP is seeking a motivated, dedicated student to join our communications and events team for up to 12 weeks. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the non-profit sector, contribute to meaningful engagements with policymakers, and learn from a small but very dedicated communications and events team.

The Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) is the only Brussels-based think tank specialised in environmental policy and sustainability. As an independent, unbiased, impartial, and evidence-based institute, we are committed to supporting organisations in better navigating the European environmental policy landscape and advancing impact-driven sustainability policy across the EU and beyond.

As part of the communications and events team, you will support the design, planning, and implementation of impactful communications activities and projects across different policy areas: Nature and Food systems, Climate, and Pollution. We are looking for a student who can start between May/June 2026 for a 10-12-week period.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with content creation for social media platforms, newsletters, and the website
  • Help develop and implement communication activities to raise awareness about the work of IEEP
  • Support in drafting digital and written materials
  • Assist in analysing and drafting reports based on statistics of the various communications channels and activities
  • Help monitor media coverage and track public engagement on social media

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant field of study which requires completion of obligatory work placement as part of curricula (Communications, Media, Public Relations, Journalism, or related disciplines)
  • Strong writing and editing skills in English, knowledge of any additional languages is an asset
  • Good knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication tools
  • Passion for environmental issues and sustainability
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Please note that IEEP’s Student Placement Programme offers unpaid positions to students who must complete a certain number of compulsory working hours within an organisation as part of their ongoing studies.
