Permitting and inspection of IPPC pig farming installations
This is a report of an IMPEL project supported by VROM in the Netherlands. It was undertaken during 2009 and adopted at the December 2009 IMPEL General Assembly. The report examines the range of practices in the EU Member States regarding the permitting and inspection of intensive pig farms regulated under the IPPC Directive with particular emphasis on animal housing, manure storage, manure spreading, air pollution control and odour management. The report makes a number of recommendations to the Member State regulatory authorities, the BREF Technical Working Group and the European Commission.
