The EU agriculture and food sector stands at a crossroad. Emerging technologies in digitalisation, robotics and AI could restructure the whole sector as we know it.
At the same time, the sector is faced with various environmental challenges and public demand for healthier and more sustainable food is increasing. Part of the future direction will be defined through the EU’s research priorities, which are governed by Horizon Europe, the EU's framework programme for research and innovation.
At IEEP we work to enhance how the research framework programme aims to support a sustainable EU agriculture and food system and ensure that sufficient resources are focussed on research and innovation in this area. Our work in this area focuses on multi-stakeholder engagement to define research gaps and create policy advice for Horizon Europe.
