Thomas Nowak has more than 20 years of experience in renewable energy, including electricity, heating and cooling. Throughout his career, he has coordinated multi-stakeholder processes, managed projects and led teams of experts from different backgrounds.
Currently, he is representing the Swedish Startup Qvantum Industries AB as Vice President, Government Relations and Public Affairs, versus European policy makers and societal stakeholders. Previously, he led and developed the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA), an industry group with more than 230 members from 22 countries. Under his guidance, the organisation has developed into a powerful advocacy instrument representing the interests of its members in Brussels as well as in the European Member States and on the international level.
Thomas holds a degree in business administration from the University of Paderborn, Germany with a focus on business information systems, organisation theory and psychology. After his studies, his interest in environmental issues led to a position with the University of Düsseldorf where he has been teaching environmental and general management.
Thomas has worked on several projects aiming at the development of renewable energy sources. He has been contributing to scientific publications, including the IEA Energy Technology Perspectives and the REN21 Renewables Global Status Report.
He has co-founded two companies building and operating PV powerplants on residential and commercial buildings.
