In his current role as Director of the new Belgium Climate and Environment Risk Assessment Center (CERAC, Luc will advise the National Security Council, provide recommendations to governmental partners and explain climate and environment risks and solutions to a wider audience.
Previously, as the Head of Coordination, Networks and Strategy at the European Environment Agency, Luc strengthened the International and institutional engagement, led the modernization of the country network, the collaboration with the Western Balkans and the EU-Neighborhood and the implementation of the 2030 EEA-Strategy.
Until June 2021 Luc was the European Regional Director for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), managing the largest membership-region of IUCN with over 360 governments and NGOs.
From 2008 to 2013, he represented The Climate Group(TCG) in Brussels, being involved in different business initiatives for more ambitious EU-climate policy and coordinated European activity on TCG’s Clean Revolution campaign.
Earlier, he worked as an Adviser on international sustainable development (SD) policies in both the Belgium Federal and Flemish Governments and represented the Government at the UN Commission on SD, the OECD national SD experts panel, the Belgium Federal Council, and at various interregional networks.
