Reinforcing EU climate leadership for improved security, competitiveness and prosperity

In association with the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU, Think2030 Dialogue Denmark gathered policymakers, experts, industries and civil society in Copenhagen to discuss the most pressing environmental issues at the top of the political European agenda. Based on those Sceicne4Policy sessions, Think2030 delivered four policy briefs outlining science-informed policy solutions for advancing Europe’s green transition.

These four Science4Policy briefings are the outcomes of the discussions amongst policy, academia, the business sector and civil society at the Think2030 Denmark. They focus on some of the most pressing debates around environmental policy, including agriculture, energy, competitiveness and financing. The Think2030 Dialogue Denmark, the event organised by CONCITO, Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP), and Think Tank EUROPA and in association with the Danish Presidency of the EU Council, welcomed European decision-makers, businesses, policy experts and civil society leaders to discuss some of the most pressing sustainability challenges facing Europe.

The event provided a dedicated space to share evidence, exchange perspectives and co-develop actionable solutions for the decade ahead.

The event programme delivered strategic insights and policy recommendations on the overall political approach of the EU and the required financial underpinning; featuring a combination of high-level keynotes, plenary sessions, as well as a series of breakout ‘science and policy sessions’ for more in-depth policy discussions with prominent experts. The science and policy sessions focused on the role of agriculture in the post-2030 climate architecture, the EU’s Clean Industrial Deal, the challenge of financing the green transition, and the role of energy reform in improving EU competitiveness. Following the debate, four policy briefs were drafted, capturing the core insights of the science-for-policy sessions and providing practical guidance for decision-makers preparing the next wave of EU climate and sustainability policies.

The briefings outline priority actions, highlight emerging opportunities, and identify areas where stronger alignment between policy, finance and industry can unlock faster progress.

Each policy briefing includes:

  • A synthesis of the latest scientific insights discussed at the event
  • Clear, actionable policy recommendations for EU and national institutions
  • Strategic guidance to align finance, industrial policy, agriculture and energy with Europe’s 2040 objectives.
