We are excited to announce the launch of the 2023 edition of the European Green Deal Barometer on 19 June at 16:30 – 19:30 CEST, Atelier 29, Rue Jacques de Lalaing 29, in 1000 Brussels.
The European Green Deal Barometer is based on over 600 sustainability experts’ views on the progress of the Green Deal implementation, its constituent policies and the factors that may impede or accelerate the process. In face of next year’s European elections, the third edition of the survey, on which the Barometer is based, focused on assessing the Green Deal resilience in the event of any political shift, the actors who are likely to support its continuation, and the specific issues and policy areas to be prioritised by the new European Commission.
In addition, to gain a deeper understanding of national perspectives and the opportunities and barriers for national governments, five case studies were selected amongst the Member States that have recently held or will hold the Council’s Presidency of the EU in the next semesters (France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Spain, and Hungary).
Another part of the analysis looks at the influence that the Green Deal’s objectives may have on third countries, as well as the benefits and obstacles that may arise from its implementation.
The Green Deal Barometer main results will be presented on 19 June in Brussels to interested stakeholders. During the event, IEEP and policy experts will also deliver some policy recommendations for a more resilient, ambitious, and effective Green Deal, and to ensure that it will remain at the core of the EU agenda beyond 2024.
The presentation will be followed by a networking cocktail.
Launched by way of a 2019 communication from the European Commission, the European Green Deal is an exhaustive policy agenda, aimed at enabling the transition towards a sustainable economy and making the EU the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. Before the publication of the third edition, you can take a look at the first and second editions.
