Event | Low Emission Zones: Navigating the Social Challenges of Clean Air Policies in EU Cities

On Monday, September 9th, the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) and the Clean Air Fund are hosting a webinar titled, “Low Emission Zones: Navigating the Social Challenges of Clean Air Policies in EU Cities.” This event marks the end of a project on the social impacts of Low Emission Zones in EU cities, and will present the key findings from IEEP’s final research paper.

Webinar: Low Emission Zones: Navigating the Social Challenges of Clean Air Policies in EU Cities

IEEP’s recent project, financed by the Clean Air Fund, investigates the social considerations around the design and implementation of Low Emission Zones (LEZ) in EU cities. The research has developed five city case studies – Stockholm, Milan, Brussels, Warsaw and Sofia – and a final research paper drawing together key emerging themes.

During this webinar, we will present our findings on key considerations for policymakers in relation to stakeholder engagement and social acceptability for LEZ. A panel of experts from EU cities and European networks active on sustainable transport issues will share their thoughts on our research findings, and give insights from their own experience of working on LEZ policies. There will also be time for questions from the audience.

Join us as we discuss how cities can develop LEZ in a fair and socially acceptable way, to ensure more citizens of EU cities can enjoy the benefits of clean air.
