Event | Tackling the global climate crisis with local solutions

IEEP is organising an official side-event of the EU Week of Regions and Cities “Tackling the global climate crisis with local solutions – the dual transition at local level” on 26 September (17:00-19:30) in Brussels.

This event will answer the following questions:

– Why is it important for local authorities to design evidence-informed policy to deliver on urban climate objectives?

– What is the role of data, data spaces, and data-driven applications at the local level?

– How can they help achieving net zero and circular economy targets at local level in Europe?

IEEP will bring together local and regional public representatives, researchers, and civil society organisations to discuss the relevant way to harness data for accelerated climate action.

Speakers include:
• Antony Page, Managing Director – [ui!]
• Justine Gangneux, Project Coordinator Data Space for Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities – Eurocities
• Marieke Schouten, Alderman of Nieuwegein – Committee of the Regions
• Monika Heyder, Senior Officer& Member of Digitisation Advisory Board of the City of Freiburg – ICLEI (tbc)

Following the debate, a networking cocktail will be offered by IEEP and event partner [ui!].
