The fourth International Conference on Biological Invasions (NEOBIOTA conference) will take place in Vienna on 27-29 September. The conference will bring together a wide range of international and European experts to discuss and exchange information on issues related to invasive alien species (IAS). IAS are currently considered to be one of the main causes for biodiversity loss worldwide and it has been acknowledged that there is a need to step up efforts to prevent, monitor and control biological invasions. Marianne Kettunen (IEEP nature conservation and biodiversity programme) will present IEEP’s recent review of Europe’s legal and policy framework relating to IAS (commissioned by DG-Environment). For more information on IEEP’s work on IAS, please contact Marianne Kettunen.
