It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our colleague Harriet Bradley, Head of the IEEP’s CAP and Food programme.
Harriet was an inspiring environmentalist with a profound dedication to her work. She was a well-known and respected voice in Brussels among the European institutions and civil society, industry and non-profit sectors for her expertise in biodiversity, environmental protection, and sustainable agriculture.
Throughout her professional life, from Milieu to BirdLife Europe, until her work with us at IEEP, Harriet distinguished herself as a researcher, policy expert, activist, and convener with a high sense of justice and determination to challenge others, build a constructive dialogue and push for systemic changes. Amongst her most significant successes at IEEP, we celebrate her leading work on developing a new vision for the future of the Common Agricultural Policy and supporting a transition to sustainable and resilient agriculture and land management.
Harriet contributed greatly with her numerous interventions in events, debates, and media on financing the agrifood sector, environmental standards, just transition, and nature restoration.
With her passing, we have lost a talented and young leader driven to make the world a better place for future generations.
We will miss Harriet as a fierce advocate for the environmental movement, as a brilliant colleague with a great sense of humour, and foremost as a kind person with a positive and supportive viewpoint, always showing a word of appreciation for others.
Our deepest sympathies and thoughts go out to her family and loved ones.
