WEBINAR | Low Emission Zones in the heating sector: a tale of EU cities

On 9 April, the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP), in partnership with the Clean Air Fund, will explore the social aspects of designing and implementing Low Emission Zones (LEZs) and heating policies across Europe.

Researchers will present findings from recent work, including policy approaches to reducing solid fuel use and a case study of Sofia—the first EU city to introduce a residential heating LEZ.

During this webinar, IEEP will present key findings from the research, highlighting experiences, barriers, and potential solutions from the first case study. A panel of experts from European cities, research, business, and clean heating networks will share insights from their own work, followed by an interactive discussion with the audience. Participants in the discussion will gain a clearer understanding, increase their awareness, and improve their engagement in developing better climate, energy, and air quality policies. The agenda will be available soon.

Join us to explore how cities can design LEZs and related heating measures in a fair and socially acceptable way, ensuring cleaner air for more Europeans.
