During every Council Presidency period, Think2030 organises a dedicated event in the presidency country to discuss the presidency priority and the actions needed to face climate challenges. Think2030 was created by the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) in 2018 to provide science-policy solutions for a more sustainable Europe. As a unique, multi-stakeholder platform, Think2030 provides science-based ideas and solutions for a sound implementation of the European Green Deal, in line with the SDGs.

The Think2030 Hungary webinar is part of this series of events.

The webinar will be structured in two sessions:

  • The first session will focus on some of the priorities of the Hungarian Presidency, looking in particular at the new EU competition strategy and the upcoming Clean Industrial Deal. Speakers will highlight how such new ambitions will complement, advance or collide with the Green Deal policies and the EU climate objectives.
  • The second session will shift attention to the global dimension of the expected Clean Industrial Deal and the ongoing international processes which can impact, such as expectations of outcomes from COP29 and conclusions from COP16, where participants will explore the latest developments, agreements, and challenges surrounding global climate negotiations.
Together, these sessions will provide a comprehensive overview of both the EU environmental policy developments and the broader international climate agenda.

Join us as we examine the performance of the outgoing parliamentary legislature against the EGD’s objectives, and look at the possible aftermath of the elections, conducting a foresight exercise on what can be expected for future EU green policy.
