Geoff Radley has worked with IEEP since June 2013. With special interests in environmental land management and nature conservation, he has specialised in agri-environmental policy and its implementation. Geoff has worked with IEEP on sustainable intensification and climate change, various aspects of CAP implementation, results based environmental payment schemes for farmers and methods of calculating payments for land management schemes. During this time he has also worked with RSPB, the EU China Policy Development Support Facility, the Welsh Government and others. Geoff has a degree in botany and a D. Phil. in plant ecology. Prior to 2013, he worked for Natural England and its predecessors, first as a field officer, then on coastal conservation issues and finally on agri-environmental schemes. He also spent 5 years working for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, during which time he led the team reviewing agri-environmental schemes in England and designing a replacement. Geoff was awarded an OBE for this work. From 2017 to 2019 Geoff returned to Natural England to help advise Defra on the development of the Environmental Land Management Scheme (ELMS). He is also a member of the National Trust’s Natural Environment Advisory Group.
