Hermann joined IEEP in July 2024 as a Policy Analyst in the CAP and Food team. He has research experience and an interest in agriculture policy and land use. His current work at IEEP mainly focuses on desertification and the adoption of innovations for the prevention and restoration of land degradation. Hermann has previous experience co-leading research projects, which includes analysing the development and delivery of a new suite of agricultural policies in the UK after Brexit, and investigating the drivers of adoption of innovative farm management practices that would lead to net-zero outcomes on farms.
He holds a PhD in Environmental Policy from Imperial College London, where his research investigated the fit for purpose the new Environmental Land Management schemes has on an increasingly diverse land management community in the UK, and how greater landholder collaborations can be achieved to realise conservation outcomes on a landscape scale.
