Matt Rayment

IEEP Associate

Matt Rayment is an economist with 30 years’ experience in appraisal and evaluation of environmental policy, and particular interests in biodiversity and the natural environment.

He has worked with IEEP on numerous policy studies and evaluations. These include two major evaluations to support the fitness checks of the EU Nature Directives and monitoring and reporting obligations relating to EU environmental legislation. He has also been involved in numerous studies of the financing and economic appraisal of nature and biodiversity policies, the costs and benefits of environmental and food legislation, costs and payment methodologies for environmental land management, tracking of EU climate and biodiversity expenditures, and evaluations of CAP and rural development policies and programmes.

He was previously Consulting Director at ICF and before that Head of Economics at the RSPB, the UK partner in BirdLife International. When not working he enjoys bird watching, cycling and triathlon.
