Mattia Bonfanti is Head of Strategic Partnerships at the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP), which he joined in 2019. He leads IEEP’s strategic partnerships and engagement with public and private stakeholders, oversees the Think Sustainable Europe network, which he contributed to creating, and works to strengthen IEEP’s policy impact, visibility and cross-thematic collaboration.

Mattia also coordinates IEEP’s Think2030 platform, an evidence-based, non-partisan initiative bringing together leading policy experts from think tanks, civil society, the private sector and public institutions to develop timely and concrete policy recommendations for a more sustainable Europe. He works to produce impactful science-informed policy recommendations by strategically engaging with policymakers and establishing strategic partnerships with public and private entities.

Before joining IEEP, Mattia held positions in the European Parliament, the Italian Ministry for Parliamentary Relations and other EU institutions, gaining extensive experience in EU decision-making, stakeholder engagement and the science-policy interface. He holds advanced degrees in European Studies and International Relations and speaks Italian, English and French.
