Nic Lampkin is an agricultural economist (PhD) currently based at the Thünen Institute of Farm Economics in Braunschweig, Germany, where he is working on approaches to the remuneration of public goods provided by organic farming, policy support for organic farming in the EU, and the German government’s Strategy for the Future of Organic Farming.
Nic previously worked at Aberystwyth University, where he was responsible for a series of studies on EU policies for organic farming, contributed to the development and implementation of organic action plans in the EU, Wales and England, and established Organic Centre Wales. From 2009-2019 he was Executive Director of the Organic Research Centre in Newbury, during which time he served for 6 years as a member of the EU Expert Group on Techniques of Organic Production.
Since 2019, Nic has been working as a policy consultant, undertaking a range of agri-environment policy studies in the EU and the UK. He is an Associate of the Royal Agricultural Societies and an Honorary Fellow of Scotland’s Rural College.
