Roberto O. Valdivia

IEEP Associate

Dr Roberto O. Valdivia is an Associate Professor and Senior Researcher in Applied Economics at Oregon State University. He co-leads the Tradeoff Analysis Project at OSU and the Regional Economics, Foresight, and Regional Integrated Assessment teams of the Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP), where he also serves on the Executive Committee.

 

His work focuses on integrated assessment, economic modeling, foresight, and trade-off analysis to evaluate climate change impacts, adaptation, mitigation, policy options, and technology adoption in agricultural systems. He is a co-developer of the TOA-MD model, used by research teams worldwide to assess impacts on productivity, livelihoods, poverty, food security, climate change, and environmental outcomes.

 

Dr Valdivia has led and collaborated on research across Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the United States with universities, CGIAR centers, international organizations, and policy partners. His current work bridges science, policy, and action, including economic modeling for the ECF-funded AUGURES! project in Europe and international initiatives on agricultural adaptation pathways, rice greenhouse gas mitigation, and mitigation–adaptation co-benefits.
