To celebrate our first 50 years of work, throughout 2026, we will feature messages, reflections and videos from colleagues, friends, allies and supporters of IEEP. In this video, MEP Cristina Guarda, reflects on IEEP’s work on agriculture and biodiversity, and how it showed local governments that another way was possible.

Cristina Guarda is an Italian MEP from the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance and a member of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee since 2024. Her focus is climate justice, the abolition of PFAS, and the protection of the environment and public health. She previously served on the Regional Council of Veneto.

We are navigating through difficult times for climate and environmental policy. In moments like this, it can be tempting to doubt and to step back.
But 50 years of IEEP teach us something very important. We may lose some battles. Sometimes we may win them. But most importantly, we do not abandon the fight.
