Kenny joined the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services team in July 2023. His work focuses on analysing and evaluating biodiversity and ecosystem policies, and their implementation in the European Member States. He supports and manages the relevant policy frameworks with an interest in the underlying drivers of biodiversity loss and nature-based solutions.
Current working activities are related to the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, the EU Nature Directives reporting, and the implementation of the European Trans-European Nature Network.
Prior to joining IEEP, Kenny gained valuable experience as a Research Associate in academia and as an advisor to the Belgian biodiversity-related institutes where he researched and made recommendations for (European) environmental policymaking. His expertise includes invasive alien species, wildlife crime, food safety, etc.
Kenny holds a Master’s degree in Biology from Ghent University. He is native Dutch speaking, is fluent in English and has a good level of French.
