The Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) is organising a series of seminars on “Europe’s Climate and Energy Crossroads”, for Members of the European Parliament in the Environment and Industry Committees. The aim of these seminars is to provide a balanced overview of key climate and energy issues that the European Union will face in the coming years, giving new Members of the committees in particular an opportunity to discuss the context and likely objectives of forthcoming legislative proposals. The seminars are by invitation only; but we will be making available the background material prepared for them.
The first seminar focuses on the specific climate and energy issues in Central-Eastern and Southern European Member States, and will address the background of current climate and energy policies in these regions, as well as future opportunities and challenges related to the EU 2030 climate and energy goals. This seminar is supported by two brief background documents. Both the CEE and the Southern European briefings are available in English and French; and the CEE briefing is also translated into Hungarian and Polish and the Southern Europe briefing into Spanish and Italian. Further background information on the other forthcoming seminars will be provided over the coming weeks.
